I chose to paint the Major Mitchell Cockatoo set in the green of the day, a colour palette that enhances its vibrant pinks and its smiling personality. As I worked through the layered pink feathers, red and yellow highlights, of his distinctive face and incredible crest, I found his jaunty attitude - something that revealed itself the longer I painted.
